Secretome

A serum made from your own hair follicles, for skin or scalp.
It is new, and the evidence is still early.

What Is
Secretome?

A secretome is the mix of proteins and other molecules that cells release. Our Secretome treatment uses a personal serum that Acorn Biolabs, an outside laboratory, prepares from a small sample of your own hair follicles. It is used only on the surface, after microneedling or laser, or on the scalp. It is new, not FDA approved or cleared, and the evidence is early.

Secretome
for Hair

For thinning hair, Secretome can be applied to the scalp. It never replaces the treatments with the longest track record: every hair plan starts with finding the cause, often with blood tests, and usually includes minoxidil or topical finasteride, and for many patients PRP for hair loss. Whether Secretome adds anything for your hair is not yet established, and your doctor will say so.

Who It’s For

Patients curious about something new, who accept that it is still being studied.

Ideal For

Patients already planning microneedling or a laser treatment, or treating thinning hair, who want to add something made from their own cells and are comfortable that the evidence is early. If you want the treatment with the longest track record, start elsewhere and your doctor will tell you where. See the concerns we treat.

When to Wait

Your doctor reviews your health history and medications first. Anyone after a predictable, proven result should start somewhere else.

Secretome or PRP?

Both start with you. PRP is made from your blood in the same visit and has the longer track record at the practice. Secretome is prepared by an outside laboratory from your hair follicles and is used only on the surface. Read about PRP and PRF.

The Treatment

1

Stronger
Evidence First

Your skin or hair is assessed first. Your doctor starts with the treatments that have the strongest evidence, and tells you whether Secretome is worth adding.

2

A Small
Collection

A small sample of your hair follicles is collected at the practice and sent to Acorn Biolabs, whose laboratory prepares and stores your personal serum.

3

Applied to
the Surface

At later visits the serum is applied to the skin right after microneedling or laser, or to the scalp. It is never injected here.

I highly recommend Dr. Fisher. I followed her from her previous practice and I continue to be happy with my results. I’ve gotten fillers and laser. Whenever I’ve wanted to do more, she was always honest with me. If I didn’t need it, I could count on her to tell me
