PRF for Under Eyes

PRF from your own blood, to help thin, hollow under eyes look firmer.
There is no filler involved, and you hear first whether it suits you.

What Is
PRF?

PRF for under eyes uses platelet rich fibrin, made from a small sample of your own blood, to help thin, hollow skin look firmer. The blood is spun slowly, without an anticoagulant, into a soft gel that releases its growth factors gradually, like fertilizer for your own tissue. PRF EZGel is that gel, prepared for the under eyes. It is not filler.

Who It’s For

For thin, hollow under eyes, over months.

Ideal For

Under eyes that look hollow, thin or tired, especially if you do not want under eye filler or are not a good candidate for it. PRF works on the tissue itself, helping the area look firmer and denser, and it can make the small vessels behind some dark circles less visible. It is never a volumizer, and your doctor will tell you if something else suits your face better. See all our regenerative treatments.

When to Wait

Because PRF is made from your blood and placed with injections, your doctor reviews your health history and medications first. And if you are hoping for a dramatic change, it is not for you. Results are modest and come slowly.

PRF or under eye filler?

PRF strengthens what is already there, where filler adds volume. The under eyes are a tricky area for filler, and whether you are a candidate depends on your bone structure. Often the better plan is a little filler along the outer face and midface, which supports the area around the eyes, with PRF under them. Read about dermal fillers, including under the eyes, or compare every option for dark circles and hollow under eyes.

“Under eye hollows may be caused by several changes, one of which is loss of structural support, so I start with why yours look the way they do. PRF strengthens the skin there, and if what you really need is volume, you will hear it from me.”

The Treatment

1

Diagnose
First

Treatment starts with a diagnosis. Under eye hollows are structural, and eye creams or Botox do not treat them. Your doctor looks at why your under eyes look the way they do and tells you whether PRF can help before anything is drawn.

2

Your Blood,
Spun Slowly

A small blood sample is spun slowly in a centrifuge to separate the platelet rich fibrin, which is prepared as a soft gel and placed under the eyes with fine injections.

3

Three, Then
Pause

Dr. Idriss’s approach is three treatments about a month apart, then a pause. Around five months in, you can judge whether your under eyes look firmer. If they do, you decide how often to repeat it. If not, you stop.

Beneath the Surface

How PRF for the under eyes works, in four stepsA glass tube above a cross section of the skin under the eye, where a soft hollow dips the surface, with a magnified circle on the tissue beneath the hollow. Step 1: a small amount of your own blood flows into the tube. Step 2: the tube spins slowly, with no anticoagulant, and the blood separates into a deep red layer below and a golden, platelet rich layer above, which is collected into a syringe and prepared as a soft gel. Step 3: the syringe moves to the skin, a fine needle places a small amount of the golden gel beneath the hollow and withdraws. Step 4: in the magnified circle, platelets in the gel release growth factors slowly, shown as golden dots, and new rose coloured fibres form in the tissue above; over the following months the hollow softens slightly. The change is subtle and gradual.

Step 1 of 4: Your own blood

It starts with you: a small blood draw, collected into a tube at your visit.

Step 2 of 4: A slow spin

The tube is spun slowly, with no anticoagulant, so your blood separates. The golden, platelet rich layer is collected and prepared as a soft gel.

Step 3 of 4: Placed with care

Your doctor places the gel under the eye, where the hollow is, with fine injections. Some swelling afterward is normal.

Step 4 of 4: Slow release

Over several days the gel releases growth factors slowly. They act like fertilizer for your own tissue, which can look firmer over the following months. The change is subtle and builds gradually, and not everyone responds.

Often paired with: Fillers, Ultherapy and PRP Microneedling.

“It does take time to see results. Plus, the results are subtle. So, if you’re expecting dramatic impact, it’s not for you.”

“

Dr. Idriss is the best! She is incredibly down-to-earth, realistic and honest. … I’ve also seen Dr. Fisher, who is equally amazing. She performed PRF using a different technique with a cannula. At first, I was apprehensive, but I was so glad I experienced the session with her. … She is also very sweet, gentle and attentive. …
